    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

heelllp me! i need some advice.

hey everyone, i know this is probably ALL too common of a question, but i need some advice about my baby RES.

he is in a nice big tank, that i keep appropriately warm all the time, 75-80 degrees or so, and i clean out his tank really well every few days, but he has been acting a bit... strange.

first of all i've had him for about a week or two now, and so far he hasn't eaten anything yet. i've tried small worms, those little turtle sticks, pellets and tiny live crickets. but he has just ignored all of it. i'm not sure if this is normal or not.

secondly, despite this until yesterday he was EXTREMELY vigorous, swimming around all the time, crawling on the rocks, and occasionally basking. He seems really healthy and active.

but today when i came in, he had buried himself under a bunch of pebbles, like he was getting ready to hibernate or something. i'm confused because i always keep his tank really warm, and keep the lights on for 12-14 hours per day to "trick" him into thinking it's summer. do turtles sometime bury themselves just for fun?

:( what is going on with this little guy? also, why won't he eat? is he dying or am i paranoid? haha heeelllp!

how big is it, sometimes when i get a new turtle that doest like to eat right at first i offer them a small amount of fresh meat(fish, chicken, beef).
where i live the wild turtles do burry themselves from time to time. just keep an eye on him.
if hes staying active you should be ok, but if he starts getting slow, sluggish and inactive you might need to worry a little more

I don't own any turtles but my friends have had a RES for years and she just mentioned last week that hers stops eating around this time of year...a turtle person will probably clear things up for you....just wanted to put your mind at ease.

Do you have sufficient lighting for him/her?You need a basking spot and a UV light!Also,the water needs to be warmer,like 82 to 85 degrees.And...baby turtles are very shy and fearful!Put food in and stay away.For the turtle,you are this huge,potential predator that could eat him/her so it is afraid.Are there any other pets that could scare it?
