    In short, DON'T! Email notices are to ONLY alert you of a reply to your private message or your ad on this site. Replying to the email just wastes your time as it goes NOWHERE, and probably pisses off the person you thought you replied to when they think you just ignored them. So instead of complaining to me about your messages not being replied to from this site via email, please READ that email notice that plainly states what you need to do in order to reply to who you are trying to converse with.

    Yeah, I know. They are a pain in the butt. But they pay the bills to keep my server running. Just a fact of life, I am afraid.

    Want to get rid of them? Simple. Just become a Contributor level member or above and they will be gone. -> Please click HERE."

    Is that too much for me to ask of you to keep this site running? Well, sorry about that. I too wish I could get everything for free. But alas.....

    =====================

    Google Adsense ad revenue for December, 2025 was just $30 over the cost of the lease for the server running this site. So, in effect, the money providing the incentive for me to continue running this site is coming SOLELY from the paid memberships and sponsorships here. Which honestly ain't much....

I am in the process of building new cages for my four Igs but I need some ideas on what to build it out of to keep the humidity in. If anyone has pictures of their cages and could describe what they are made out of that would help a lot. Thanks for any help.

Hi,
Plywood and a couple coats or an exterior type paint will be a cheaper way to go.
Melamine wood is great for holding humidity, but very heavy. (3/4 of an inch thick).
You could build it out of plywood,and then line the inside with showerboard.(fairly expensive and time consuming).
You could use plywood and then coat the inside with a clear polyeurothane.(you will need three coats). just a few ideas, good luck.

Sorry- no pix but mine is built out of 3/4 inch wood with polyurethane top, bottom, and sides, plywood back and plexiglass front. I modeled mine after cages on http://www.jworlds.net/intro.html. The plexiglass scratches easily but its excellent for viewing and humidity/temp control. Try putting at least 3 openings on top for bulbs(night, heat, and uv. Hardware stores have cheap timers to control them. You can go all out and add plexiglass shortwalls and bottom sealed with aquarium sealer at the corners so that you can add a bathing spot. Possibilities are limited only to a budget. Good luck and post pix when you're done!!!
