The sensitivity report says that it's sensitive to enrofloxacin (Baytril). Perhaps you should bring this up with your vet? If he's not improving on Fortaz after 16 days of treatment, then you might consider changing antibiotics, or adding another agent. A fluoroquinolone (Baytril or Cipro) might be a better choice in this situation. Just a thought...

btw...check your PM's again...

Says the same for Piperacillin. Mighty expensive stuff, but it worked on Aurora where others failed. Hopefully it won't come to that, and the Fortaz will work.

Have they given you any instruction, or help with hydration? Seems to me that Fortaz is one of those that can have possible kidney, liver damage as a side effect. Extra hydration will help combat this.

Any improvements at all?

He's going to have an ugly head after all is done but he's eating now!
Still another 3 shots to go for treatment.

You'll accept the scar though if things go well. Trust me.

I agree with rick on this, SO worth it!

Keep it up, im SO damn happy hes improved! I was worried that he might not make it, so, while he may not be out of the woods yet, at least hes on his way to being better!

This really made my day steve, thanks for posting it!

What's the current regimen, Steve? Did you end up adding another agent, or did you just stay with the Fortaz alone?
