You got the Sci Fi but missed on the black comedy. It is a later movie that damn near no one has seen but it is one of my favorites

Although I will admit that Brother Orchid sort of fits my description, more goofball than black though

That's the one. Great movie that flopped cuz it was made about twenty five years to soon. I still laugh out loud at the scene where they know Basil Rathnone has a venomous snake in his room and they purposely delay telling him for ten minutes or so to ensure he gets bitten
