If you trust him, and feel it was an honest mistake, then I think the two of you should split the cost of a replacment check. split the stop payment, and if he wants the check overnighted, split that as well. It makes you look good, and the seller should be happy. But you are not obligated to split it with him, you can make him eat all the additional costs.

My personal advice would be for you to ask the seller to ask his wife to find the check for him. &nbsp;Whenever I lose something, that's what I do. &nbsp; <img src="http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Works every time.

His fault (or is that her fault) so they should pay for the check cancellation fee and the postage even if only a stamp for snail mail.

Now if I lose something and ask my wife to find it she usually can (even lost snakes). Of course, that is unless it is any form of money. Then she loses all recollection of where it could have gone - funny thing about how she does that!

My opinion doesnt mirror the ones that have been posted here.
I have to say that much upfront.

This business(Hobby?) is really strange. There are people constantly getting into it, and constantly getting out of it.
In and out...In and out.....

And what I see alot of is people buying out other peoples collections, usually at pennies on the dollar,.

So...the poor slob puts some quality snakes up for sale, admittedly *DIRT CHEAP* by your own description. WHY did he do this? Well, it could be because of econmic hard times, and it sounds like sheer desparation to me. But at any rate, it shows clearly that the individual in question truly had to create income and revenue, no matter how small or how much loss he incurred, at that moment. People do the same thing with houses, it is called forclosure.
I personally know of two guys here in San Diego that do EXACTLY this, they look for someone that is either to dumb or to desperate for cash and buy up their entire collection CHEAP and either resell the snakes, turning a profit, or keep SOME of the best for themselves. &nbsp;Would I buy from these guys? HELL NO. I wouldnt even REFER another person wishing to sell their snakes off to them.

IN the situation we have here, the guys advertises his snakes, which are of good quality, VERY CHEAP and you send him the money. YOU, an admitted &quot;BIG BREEDER&quot;(Whatever the hell that is) buy his(An admitted small timer who has had financial hard times) snakes for less than they are worth, way less......
Fine...he agrees out of desperation, you agree out of a need to get a good deal and capatalize on someone elses misfortune whilest benefitting yourself fully.

Problem: YOU responsibly send full payment, and wait for your snakes. The seller SENDS you the snakes? But then tells you that he LOST the check. &nbsp;*MAJOR INCOMPETENCY* on his part, especially if he is cash strapped. And he asks you to recoup the cost for the overnight and shipment, plus check reisssue cost , whatever...
You think he should be responsible for sall this, primarily because of his sheer stupidity, and I am with you that the guy is pretty damn dumb or just unlucky.

But...you admitted that you got a &quot;Good Deal&quot; on these snakes, a very good deal...so what loss is their to you if you do cover the cost again, as you have allready gotten over by purchaseing something for much less than it is worth?
His incompetence is not YOUR FAULT, any more than your GREEd is his fault. Frankly..I wish I had the money to send him to give him a decent price for those snake so he could tell you to just take a flying leap...politely, of course....

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Not like the other posts eh?
