I think we should be able to contribute another $1 or $2 and get our goldish coin!

Anyways... to the threads topic! I think you would find possible disasterous results if you used anything to mark their skin. While you may find something non-toxic you probably won't find anything non-toxic that will be waterproof or won't interfere with shedding. I refuse to buy beardies that have been marked with nail polish (like most of them do) because it does cause the skin under the marking to remain and any time skin does not shed off when it's supposed to you could have serious problems... sometimes life threatening. My suggestion is the same thing Robin, Kelli, and myself do... keep clutches seperately housed and keep track of them that way. If you have tons of time to take tons of pics (not to mention the money for ink cartridges) then the notecard thing will work... just don't expect to be able to find the time for that if you get alot of babies!

Luckily my ink is very inexpensive, I bought my printer based on future ink cost instead od buying an inexpensive printer with high $$ ink but I do think that my index cards will be hardre to keep up with soon. I have 40 females with almost almost all of them gravid.

So if I expect to have 40 females even lay 1 time a month that could be 80 babies to take pics of at birth every month and as their markings change then adding the next months newcomers. So Im not sure how this will work out later.

I do have more time than some since I am a stay home mom and I never get to sleep lol

You definitely need to keep them housed seperately if you are wanting to keep track of whos who.

I tried to keep track via markings. Once you get 20+ going through dramatic changes with each shed, it's a losing battle.

WHAT? I payed long before! Oh well I could really care less...Hey if more of you get the gold ones mine will be a collectors item!!!1 Yeaaaaaaa!!!!!

As far as using any kind of ink! I would be very careful as skin can be very porous and can absorb chemicals and toxins easily...especially geckos!!!

YES! Mine are housed seperately but I use the card files too for records, photo on the front, mating dates, lay dates, weight etc for the adults on the back then for the babies - hatch date, weight etc on the back. Its easier for me to have it written down then I can put it in my Herp care software as the cards are full and go by written notes than trying to weigh each one then get on the computer and go back and forth from leo to computer.
