e above pictures that Barbie Satrom has posted. Picture 1: The pictures of the babies being weight out was giving her an example of my calculations to arrive at 3148 babies. I just wanted her to know that I was not ball parking my calculations or using some previously conceived number and that the g/baby was specific to what was in the shipment.
Picture 2: shows me sorting out the larges and mediums the next day. This tubs went right from sorting the day before and stored with lids on till the next day when I brought out to sort. The mediums on the left are supposed to contain 2500, not 600 and the larges on the right were not even part of the deal. She said she was going to throw those in sweeten the deal.
Here is what I think:
I believe she did count 1000 adult females and 200 adult males (even though I was supposed to get 1800. She admits she "counted most the shipment myself" and admitting that her friend swears to counting them out. (I will upload Text pictures to follow with these statements) If you look at how many actually showed up, 813 adult females alive day 1, and 136 dead. That's close to 1000, accepting a counting error of 50 or so. 143 adult male alive and 46 dead, again thats close to 200, with a counting error of 11. Even though most people will send a little extra for any possible DOA's, those numbers are close to a 1000 (what she admits to counting out), although I was supposed to get 1800 females.
She said she counted the smalls, but doubt that. By here own admission in the grainy pictures that she posted, all the smalls, mediums and larges were in one bin. Why did she not take pictures of them individually counted out. That's because I don't think they were every separated. I received them all together in one box myself. I would think, if I was shipping that many, I would of thought to ship each size separate after counting. I mean I spent $1350, there is some room for shipping an extra box. But I think she though if she just threw everything in one box, there is no way I would count them out and would just accept what was in the box for what we agreed. I think this was one colony, and she was assuming there were certain numbers on mediums and smalls, but did a horrible job estimating. She admitted to having her friend add in the extra females and mediums and shipping it (again, both 12X12X5 priority boxes were shipped with 1, ONE, UNO, egg crate in each. Who is in the business for 6 years and ships like this without expecting DOA's. Someone who did not ship or see what actually went into the box does!!!

Barbie says that she took the pictures just before boxing up. Well I only received a picture of adult breeders and that was on the 24th. As she alleges in the above post, she took the pictures right before boxing up. Well that was the 24th. I received a text on the 30th at 1:46 saying that she was boxing right now after two days of delayed shipping!!

Justin In the last text is says shes sending some extra breeders it doesnt say 350 extra.
Barbie is it possible they didnt count out the other 500 adults and looking at the bin you assumed is was all there?
Justin what was the actual weight of the total smalls received? what size was considered small?
Barbie had said she used average weight for the smalls, hand counted 2500 med,and 1000females/200 males
if the smalls were mixed up to 1/2 inch the average weight should be around 1000 grams for 13000 nymphs for 3000 is would only be around 225 grams
for the mediums I really have no clue how the count can be almost 1900 off if they were hand counted.

WAS there a hole in the box? Because if poor packing allowed for 12,000 African roaches to escape into the perfect climate of central California, that's a real environmental problem in the making.

wow Im speechless after watching those videos
very good sorting job that does take hours
a few things right off the bat I noticed they were loose in the box but all the ends didnt appear to be taped shut that would allow for them to escape (dont know if 10000+ would of gotten out unnoticed)
IMO the one egg crate per box is too little when we ship adult females its generally 500 per box that size with 3 egg crates
the 2nd box with out a doubt didnt have 13000 small nymphs when you opened it on the video
is it possible a 3rd box was sent or should have been sent?

Here is a continuation of the screen shot, talking about how many extra adult breeders (350) she was giving me and why she was.
You can see in the picture she posted about the smalls. Total weight was 79.60 grams. I was considering smalls to be babies and 3/8's. 1/2" and up were sorted out and hand counted (600) and then the larges 1.25" and above were sorted from them. She did say, she did not take average count weights of these babies, but used a number from previous times.
I believe she counted 1000 adult females and 200 adult males, then told her friend to toss in the rest of a bin or make a guess on the females, smalls and mediums and ship them for her. For me the way they were ship is a big clue, it tells me someone who was not used to shipping dubias, did. Like the friend she asked to finish the order. There was one egg crate in each of the 12X12X5 USPS Priority box, no extra food (these things were very hungry and thirsty and ate a lot of carrot in 24 hours.) I will post some more text and you will see, I had to hound her about getting it in writing, then had to clarify numbers because her agreement did not have what we actually talked about, shipping was late, etc. Now she wants to say they magically walked out of a sealed box, with no complaints from my usps driver (and they let me know, b/c I've had a couple badly packaged shipments arrive with babies getting out) or any usps employee along the way from MT to CA.

ok I was mistaken at 1st it looked like you cut open the box when you said you were going to on the video but the 2nd box was already cut open and you can see the tape on the sides it was sealed correctly
those boxes were not cut open on the video as I 1st thought they were
when did you actually cut open the 2nd box?

I know nothing at all about roaches and the numbers don't really add up but is there a chance they started eating each other?
