Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

I would wait until at a minumum of over 4 ft, probably closer to 5. They are apparently prone to egg binding if bred too small, which can be fatal.

Thanks, I'll probably wait until next year then, 2012, to be on the safe side.

Wow, I'm glad I saw this post.
I have a 5 foot male and a 3.8 to 4 foot female that I was going to try to breed this spring. I've even been fattening them both up for the brumation period. If she looks like she has eggs when she comes out of brumation, should I keep her from breeding? What happens to the unfertilized eggs? I don't want any harm to come to either of them, but she's been growing like a weed lately and getting blacker and blacker with each shed and I thought she might be ready this coming spring. What do you think, and what has been your experience with Blacks?
Thanks

Ain't they great? If she's makes 4 ft by spring, I'd probably go for it whether you see an ovulation or not. Ovulation could come after they are introduced.

Hi Russell!!! I have shot the breeze with you over on on repticzone. Good to see you over here now! I too had similar question on when the female is ok to breed and alot of breeders told me 4.5 - 5 feet to be safe. But John who posted above me is the man so if he thinks 4 feet is pretty safe then I would feel ok doing it. Lucky for me I am in the opposite position with mine. My female is just a hair under 5 feet and my male is 4 feet. I have a yearling female too but she wont be getting any boy action for a looong time yet haha!
