taking burms across state lines.

I am working to develop a traveling educational reptile program that will focus on reptiles (along with a few amphibians and invertebrates) Right now my plans do not include any animals on any restricted lists (that I am aware of right now) but the guy I am working with really wants me to get an Albino Burm. Most of my shows will be in Wisconsin and Illinois and I am just wondering if an educational show like this is eligible for a permit or exemption or whatever resulting from the recent interstate movement prohibition. Obviously I'll do my research but anyone who ignores this site as a source in that research is a fool. If anyone knows who I would contact for such an exemption/permit I would appreciate it.

I also have a few more questions regarding Illinois laws that I will be asking in the state specific section so if you can help me out there I would appreciate it if you could pop on over and check that post out.

Thanks

Even for the purpose of exportation, they aren't allowed to cross state lines...(obviously they pass over them; but they cannot travel ground, or even land in another state on the way out of the US). Logic would suggest that if an exception were to be granted, it would be for the purpose of getting rid of them.

*Yes, I'm sure about that, I was just reading the USFW policy on exportation yesterday.

Given that, I would be somewhat surprised if exceptions were granted for interstate transport, especially repeated interstate transport...however, many years ago, I came across a reference for such a permit when I wanted to acquire a brown tree snake for my presentations. Of course, I didn't find any evidence that such a permit existed other than in theory. When I contacted USFW, I was simply told that it couldn't be done. Period.

The link for the permit application is the 2nd to last. Send your money, no guarantees, no refunds.
I'd call them first to find out if you stand a chance.

I have a permit for my albino burm for educational programs use across state lines. The app process involves jumping through a lot of hoops. You may have a problem as "I am working to develop..." USFWS may not consider you as for "legitimate educational purposes. I know of several other educational permits that have been isssued.
They will want pics of your double containment cages for travel and dsplay, shipping methods and caging and your "script" as it relates to Burms. You will also need to be able to positively ID the specific snake involved, although he does not HAVE to be chipped.
Be very careful to label all photos- I got arequest for more info when they could nto figure out what a couple of my photos were.
