Pa/Ny/Nj Area

I live in Montrose pa and the petstores all around me are pretty poor pet stores with the exception of Serpents Den but thats around a 2 1/2 hour trip. But I dont mind a trip to see healthy Nice looking reptiles. Does anyone know of any stores worth taking a trip to see. My Fiance enjoys reptiles almost more then I do and I enjoy taking her to see them but all the stores near me every time I go in I feel bad for the animals and so does she and that just starts the "why we cant take that animal home no matter how sad and unhealthy it looks" her heart is bigger then my wallet lol well if anyone knows of any worth while stores please let me know. I am sorry if this post doesnt belong here I just thought this would be the place for it but if its not Im sorry.

Thanks

So which Montrose, Pa. do you live in: is it the one in Susquehanna County or the one down in Berks county? I am guessing that if it was the one in Berks County you could find some good places on your own being as close to Philly and Baltimore as you would be. As for the one up in Susquehanna County you might look toward Scranton, Pa. or Binghamton, NY.

From your initial post, I get the idea that maybe you are going to the shops just to look. If that is the case, why not give Clyde Peeling's Reptileland a try. It is located in Allenwood, Pa about 130 miles from either of the two towns. This is a definite warm weather stop, as it has quite a few outside enclosures for tortoises and some other animals. There are also inside enclosures for snakes and other herps. A really nice private zoo dedicated almost exclusively to herps. I have been there a few times and it is quite a trip for me. Never seen a sickly herp there. You may want to check with them to see if they sell herps to the public.

Reptileland

Sorry I could not be of more help about shops to visit; but I do hope the tip about Reptileland will turn out to be a good one for you.

Best regards,
Glenn B
