With the closure of Mali on exporting Uromastyx, the majority of "CH" "Malis" from this point on are dispar from Chad. If you want true malis which are legitimately Captive Bred, these are great animals.
We acquired all 4 of these animals to try out Uromastyx, figuring start with an inexpensive species to try out as a new breeding project to see if they meshed well. In spite of them being amazing creatures with interesting habits, the ambient heat created from their caging has increased the temperature in our lizard room and is not working out too well. Unfortunately this has pressured us to let go of this project for the time being, and try Uromastyx later on when we have a larger facility.
We have 1.2 Captive bred 2009 which were purchased from Doug Dix @ Deer Fern Farms. These 3 were produced by Noel Alt, and are phenomenal looking animals- we took great time in picking out of a large group for exceptional coloration. 1.1 are from Noel's high yellow line known to have extreme yellow on black contrast. 1 female is from his banded line known to have excessive black banding throughout the back. These animals are housed together in a 4' enclosure with loads of rocks, crevices and hide boxes to feel comfortable in. The are given Miner-All on every meal. Dark leafy greens comprise the bulk of their diet, and they look impeccable.
1 female was purchased locally as a Captive Bred adult- and she is a male mimic. She is old enough to breed now and has the size and weight to breed. She is very high yellow for a female.
