Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

creating humidity chamber for tortoise
Hello,
Ive had a leopard tortoise for a couple of years now and ive been wondering if it would be possible to create a humidity hide/chamber for him. Im hoping that by creating something like this will help give peace of mind for me knowing that he has a way to stay clean and thoroughly hydrated (besides my provided water dish). Has anyone tried this at all? i was thinking of just doing a large plastic container with lid with moist sphagnum moss. Thank you for any input!

Your idea will work just fine. I'd substitute cypress mulch for the sphagnum, add clear plastic flaps in front of the opening, and if your setup allows it, add a heat source. Either heat pad, heat tape, heat cord below the floor or low voltage CHE attached to the lid (light box screwed into a piece of wood above the plastic). That'll give you a nice warm, humid box for the tortoise to hang out in.
