Moving Cites II animals to Germany?
Can someone point me in the right direction in terms of what black demons I need to summon to make this work? Even just a few links to start researching would be muchly appreciated.
I'm moving to Germany at this end of this year and would very much like to take my collection with me (three sub-adult snakes). Unfortunately, as far as I can tell all three are CITES II, which gums up the works considerably. I can find someone trustworthy to watch them for a few months, but a long-term commitment to caring for my animals isn't an option. Everything I've read seems to indicate bringing them on the flight isn't a go, and shipping without a CITES license isn't a go either, and I cannot find an appropriate commercial exporter with my limited google-fu.
1. Are there any CITES licensed exporters sending a shipment to HAMM this year that would be willing to add my animals (with appropriate fees of course?) If not to HAMM, then in their next shipment that direction - I'm willing to drive to pick them up from pretty much wherever.
2. Are they any airlines that DO allow reptiles onboard? Lufthansa appears to be no go and I'm not familiar with the other airlines servicing Germany.
3. Barring that, what do I need to do this myself aside from the license, and the luck of the devil? I could ship it to someone in the country from here in the US before I leave, but after that, do I have any other options?
4. Is there another option I'm missing?
I know this is going to be an expensive and frustrating affair, but those little monsters are the only thing I really want to take (aside from essentials) so it's worth the money and time to me.
