Well 3 toes would be,well..a 3 toed although I've had 3 toes with 4 toes
I'm gonna go with Gulf Coast..A pic of the back side would be nice to sex it.The Gulf Coast males don't have the red eyes of the other boxie sub-species so it could be either....unless the belly is concave, then male it is.

Just a side note...I'ld return it to where he/she was found. There's plenty of boxies out there that there is no need to touch the wild population.Chances are they're protected anyways.

Lol it was cruising along a road going through the army base. But we've released it. Away from the road.

I agree.

Box Turtles can be so variable even within the same species but knowing where it was found is a big help.

Oh Va....Then I'm going with Eastern Female as well in that case.On an Army base, that's what ya call a protected boxie.
