Fed Ex question

Hi-

I read here about how to become a certified shipper, but here is my question. I called Fed Ex (I haven't actually shipped anything yet but hope to in the near future) and they said all I have to do is fill out a form each time I ship an animal. Are the policies different from state to state? I asked if I had to come in and 'sign up' or do something to get certified and she said no, just fill out the form each and every time we ship. I thought that would be time consuming but we're not going to be shipping that much this year. Should I call them back and try to talk to someone else? Did this person just not know what she was talking about? It did seem too easy to me. Oh, I'm in Allentown, PA.

Laura,

I believe it's a completely different ballgame if you're shipping geckos rather than non-venomous snakes. Of course, I don't know what you're shipping, I just went off of your user name.

FedEx's policies prohibit the shipping of any live animals unless coordinated through their Live Animal Desk. To me, using the word "coordinated" indicates that it can be approved or not based upon individual preference at the Live Animal Desk.

If I were you, I'd fill out the forms each time, and if at some point they refuse the shipment, give them a stack of copies from the previous shipments and ask them to show you the updated policies.

Terese-

Thanks for your input. Yes, I will just be shipping Leopard Geckos at this time. I was just wondering after reading all the other posts.
