Rattlesnake herping

For those of you who live in the Americas and Mexico. About what time of the year do you start to notice and see the rattlesnakes coming out of their winter sleep?

When the temps are consistently about 70 for about a week. Our timbers will be out in about a month.

Here in AZ, depending on elevation and species, they can be seen all year round. It also depends on what the weather does. The only month I have personally never seen a snake at times is in February, which usually is our coldest month.

In and around the montane area in which I live, they seem to come out at about this time off year, given a steady warmer temps for a good weak or so. Just depends on the weather.

Our crotalid friends should be waking up right about now here in NM...the rains definately help as well, and we've finally been getting some good showers. In Dona Ana county where I live, you can find C. molossus, C. atrox, and C. viridis viridis, and even C. lepidus klauberi in the right places. Should make for an interesting year.
