Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Parasites... several of them... now what?
Had a fecal done on both new reptiles... a beardie and a mountain horned dragon.
The beardie has coccidia, trichomonads (?sp), and pinworms.
Ok, how do I treat it.... she weighs 125 grams and is 5 mo. old.
Thanks.

Hello
Hello,
Ooh, sorry they both have coccidia & a protozooan. Technically, coccidia is a protozoan, but it rarely causes problems like trichomonas, can cause problems in higher numbers. Well, pinworms are relatively easy to get rid of too & are very common.
Did he prescribe any meds to you? Coccidia is normally treated either with Albon or Trimeth sulfates which is just sulfa based drugs, the same as Albon. Trichomonas are usually treated with Flagyl or metronidazole. Pinworms are treated with Panacur.
Did he tell you the counts of them at all?
How are you cleaning the enclosures out?
Meds are somewhat harsh on their systems so we should discuss what meds you feel are needed most. That is why the vet should have given you a specific count on each to determine if she needed a medication for each parasite & worm. That is 3 different meds each, & that is quite a bit on her system.
Let me know what you decide & I can help you figure it out.

As for the cage cleaning... we are using paper towels. Every evening and every morning we clean them. Take everything out, rinse it out & clean with some disinfectant stuff (not sure at the moment the name). In the eve we clean the accesories, which are few, also. And water dishes, food dishes, etc.
Everything else is covered in MHD thread I think...

Hello
Hello,
Great, that sounds fine to me. Paper towels are by far the easiest way to keep the tank clean. Definitely keep as few tank decor in there are possible.
You can also use cardboard things like boxes, etc, for basking areas so you can just throw them away instead of always having to clean everything.

Just to let everyone know... the beardie got Albon (3 days) and Flagyl and Panacur. She is definately cleaning out some worms and icky stuff.
She has always and still is eating like a big piggy. She's doing really great. Last week she started to really eat her "salads", she hadn't before that... she was all about the crickets!!! Tuesday we start the second 3 day phase of Albon.
Just wanted to give an update. Should have some pics up sometime.

Hoorah!!!!
The Beardy is out in the front yard sun bathing today, A good size grass hopper jumped in the cage,,,, You know what happened to that! I hope the back legs don't cause any more bleeding problems for her! But she ate so fast I couldn't get to her fast enough to just even try to grab the legs on the way down...
The Mountain H.D. Ate crickets today on her own! I wish we didn't have to restart one of their med. Regimens again today. But I think if she's comfy enough to eat w/ us now she probably will continue to. Anyway I'll probably put this on the other post too since we've all been talking about all of it on all of them !! LOl .............So yippee!

Hello
Hello!
Oh geez, your dragon ate a grasshopper outside. I hope that will be ok, & she wont have any problems with that. I hope it all comes out ok.
Yes, I saw on the other thread that your MHD ate crickets today, too! That is SO awesome! Too bad you have to start the meds again. It sounds like they are both doing well though, no worries right now with them.
Great job getting them both on the right track now.
