Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Hi Fellow FaunaClassifieds users:
Are there too few topics for discussion on FaunaClassifieds.com leading us to boredom? Is boredom why many of us wind up bickering over personalities instead of talking herps! Have we said all there is to say on the General Business Forum over and over again? I think the addition of new forum topics (such as Snake Breeders Forum, Advanced Snake Keeper Forum, Lizard Breeder Forum, Advanced Lizrd Forum, etc...) could possibly give us all something new to focus on and help alleviate the petty bickering. If not alleviate the bickering, would it at least make the site more interesting? I am not talking of becoming another kingsnake.com - but of adding a few new forums for advanced hobbyists/breeders so we can express ourselves and share our ideas about herps on other than business matters. Always talking the same old thing seems, in my opinion, to lead us to taking jabs at one another possibly for want of soemthing else to engross our minds.
Please let me know what you think and answer the poll. Thanks
Best regards,
Glenn Bartley

I can end the bickering easy enough, but perhaps the cure would be worse than the illness.
Would you all like me to get VERY strict and become more heavy handed about banning people from this site? Suppose I interpret what YOU are saying as being bickering? For that matter, define bickering to everyone's satisfaction.
That's the problem with freedom. Your freedom hinges upon having to put up with the other guy's freedom as well.
Trying to determine if someone is just a troublemaker is pretty tough to do. Heck, many people would probably label me as being a troublemaker for even putting the BOI online in the first place. By definition, it was going to make trouble for some people.
My suggestion: The absolute best cure for bickering is to just ignore it. You don't have to have the last word in an argument. You don't have to put in your two cents.
Don't feed the trolls and they will wither away in short order.

I believe that the webslave has already voiced his opinions on the addition of new forums. He has said that he does not want to turn this site into a KS.COM clone with separate forums for every little topic.
Personally, I don't see the problem. I visit here once or twice a day, and sometimes I see things that interest me and I read and maybe even contribute.
If they don't interest me I don't read them and I try not to add to them If I feel I don't have anything pertinant to say.
Occasionally I notice things in the herp world that give me pause and I will post a comment or comments on this discussion forum.
I won't make a post just because things have gotten a little slow on here, or because it looks like the forum could use a boost. I am sure that most of you, like me, have other things that may be more important than spending time in front of the computer reading every post that comes through.
Truthfully, I enjoy it when I come on here and there is nothing new to read. It saves me time which might be better spent on other tasks. I just wasted 10 minutes on this topic alone :-)
Additional forums would not alleviate any of the problems, and would only make it that much harder to pop in and check it out.

Well, none of the poll choices exactly reflect my opinion, so here it is:
I personally don't want to see this site add more forums, especially ones such as already exist on KS and similar sites. Even if they are designed for the advanced hobbyist such as frequents the BOI, without fail you will end up with the 'I have a sick snake' 'how do I care for my boa' 'what size cage' type of questions. At one time KS had really good content, and though I still go by their forums, it is often filled with repetitive newbie questions and bickering. I haven't seen where more forums has helped KS to eliminate the bickering and don't think Rich needs any more work than is already on his plate.
I come by here 3-4 times a day and see what's up and if there's any interesting topics in the GBF or if there's someone I know about or have considered buying from in the BOI. I try to stay away from the posts that get long and bickering and try to make sure any posts I get caught up in are replied to in a civil and intelligent manner. There is nothing I hate more than the rudeness, bickering and flaming on the boards. Unfortunately, those things are often a mainstay of boards everywhere, regardless of topic.
My .03 cents (figured I gave a bit more than .02 *smile*)

Hi. I'm new here. I've been at ksnake.com for awhile and came across this link in a post there. I'm happy to have found this place, very cool. I WAS going to inquire about a big name vendor that I thought was scamming me but .... HOLY COW after a month of igoring my e-mail and phone calls they actually returned a call !!! MAYBE I'll get what I paid for as well ?? Now I know where to come if I don't.
Sorry off topic. Anyways, I think there will always be bickering. Thats humans for ya. I haven't been around long enough to comment on whether or not there needs to be more forums.

as far as this site being for more serious herpers, I think there are a couple of reasons for this.
first, it doesn't get the publicity that kingsnake gets. probably 75% of my reptile customers have heard of kingsnake but only 25% or less have heard of this site. to find this site you have to do a little more digging so only those who are more dedicated are going to find it.
second, without the wide variety of forums the average newbie probably gets bored with this site rather quickly. If they have no intentions of buying on line, they may not really care about the content of this site.
Anyway, as many have pointed out. Fauna and KS are both good reptile sites. I use them both regularly and I would miss either one of them if they were to go away.

I have to agree with Diane, I used to go to the kingsnake forums and years ago I used to like the reptile chat rooms but they all turn into a place full of newbie's asking the same questions over and over again, eitherthat or a bunch of people calling each other names. I don't think that more forums are the answer I think that us using whatwe already have better is the answer. I really don't mind giving advice on the proper diet for an iguana or helping someone who doesn't know better when they ask " my boa has bubbles coming out of its nose what do I do ? " but it would be nice to have something for those of us who have been doing this a long time as well, but I seriously doubt if you will ever end the bickering. I guess nothing is pefrect. .... LOL
