A golden moth to identify...

Hello all,

Here are 2 pictures of a little moth photographied on the wall of my house at Sherbrooke, Quebec (near Vermont USA) last September 2008. It looks like he has a golden sheet over its body ;-)

I think it is a Noctuidae from the genus Papaipema but I'm not sure...

Any idea about its identification?

Thank you very much for your help :-)

Michel
Quebec, Canada

Great photo! Definitely family Noctuidae, genus Papaipema. Species is possibly Papaipema arctivorens ?

They (Noctuidae) are all so beautiful, thanks for sharing.

Thank you very much Laura for your help.

Finally I identified it:

It is the Burdock Borer (Papaipema cataphracta).

Thank you also for your nice comment :-)

Cheers,

Michel

Ah, yes ... I see the difference in the two. I thought it was the Northern Burdock Borer .. the P. cataphracta is actually prettier
