Arrow My hamsters smell funny!

I was changing the substrate from my teddy bear hamster's tanks and when I picked up Peanut and Butter they both smelled rather bad.

The substrate wasn't that dirty so I don't think that's it. My question is: "Can you bath a hamster?' I know that you can't bath a ferret persay and that instead you have to dust it. SHould I dust my hamsters, and if I do with what should I dust? Baby powder?

thanks

Well, I dont know if its a good idea, but it is VERY possible! Back when I had my hampster, she decided to get herself stuck in the wheel overnight (it was one of those habitrail ones that attach outside the cage, she had somehow flipped over the entrance so she could not get out) and was covered in "her own mess" we just gave her a little bath in shallow warm water, and used cat shampoo. she was fine, and smelled great after! just make sure to dry her off well because being so tiny they can get chilled quite easily.

Thanks for the reply!

Actually I find if I feed them cucumber and celery it helps to ease the stench...

I think they are just musking or something strange...

who knows they're old farts anything could be going on with them
