Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

most of my males came from petco. i chose them mainly for color, comp. and personality. the halfmoons i got thru ibc. i just got a surprise gift tonight too. a pair of crowntail males from a friend of mine that she saw in a store that have great coloring. one male has such a crown on him he reminds me of a lionfish. he'll be next, but i'm going to wait until next year. i gotta see how these babies do. :P

Update On The Babies
well fluffy's kin seem to be doing well so far. i'm using liquid fry food and a something from ocean nutrition for betta fry called attison's betta fry food. in fact i think this batch is growing pretty fast because you can actually see them without having to press your nose up to the glass. as for prince, the other male i was trying to breed, i learned this......do not give them homo names!!! he had no interest whatsoever. after several days of being with the female, he would not build a bubblenest and wouldn't even look at her. i put him back in his tank and decided to introduce my red betta, big red, to the female. i had eggs in less than 24 hours. as for prince? he was the male next to him and now has the biggest bubblenest i have ever seen. am i the only one that has a gay betta??

setting up a breeding tank
i took a 10 gallon tank and half filled it. get the temp to 80. no higher than 82. get a corner filter. a tight fitting hood to prevent drafts. i use a divider when i introduce the pair before i put them together. i use lids from coffee cans, a half cut stryofoam cup, or floating plants. feed mom and pop live foods to get them good and ready a few weeks before intro. when the mating happens, take mom out. i usually give the tank a dose of an antibiotic and fungal treatment to protect the eggs. mom gets a dose of antibiotics if dad beat her up. dad stays until the the babies are free swimming(about day 3 of hatching) i have been having luck with liquid fry food and baby fry food i got online. i am also giving the baby brine shrimp that i hatch out. good luck

I recently tried my hand a breeding Bettas. Not only was my male more interested in other males, the female killed him! Guess she didn't want any competition.
