Vipers on the way..

..hopefully.

This is what I saw may 24, when I checked my animals..

Vipera ammodytes ammodytes





Since then I observed a mating in another couple of the same species in my collection..

I know that there is some people breeding the species. But, it is not too common.. Not as in Europe, at least.

Hopefully there will be juveniles in time for the Terraristika in Hamm, Germany..

congrats. I love seeing true captive breeding in HOTS its not as common as one would expect.

I have a captive bred pair of V. ammodytes that were produced in the United States. They are not common but if you have the right connections you can get them.

Good luck with your's as well.

Yeah.. Erk2, I think that your right.

They can easily be found for sale in the Hammshow in Germany though.

Yes they are absoloutly more popular in Europe.
I do have a couple Vipera sp. including ammodytes and xanthia as well as Daboia (formerly Vipera) palestinae

All very nice species to work with..

I also keep Gloydius halys caraganus and Vipera orlovi. Currently looking for Vipera nikolskii and Macrovipera schweizeri.. A pair of Vipera albizona would also be nice..

Outcome of the first mating:

8 slugs and three babies.. 1.2. I will keep the female, but the males will be for sale..
