Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Geez this guy got a lot of questions..
Ok, so I know I've been asking questions on here left and right, and here are a few more.
First off, my new Nic (named Adobo. A recipe used to cook chickens and pythons in the philippines.) is in great shape. Eating well, very tame, and is a joy to handle. He just fed about an hour ago. I'm going crazy, and am already getting pretty hooked on the little guy. Besides the first starter kit, I already got another heat lamp, basking light (New image hood inc. blacklight), and a 10L aquarium, w/ 6 female mice (4 have given birth, and 1 is still pregnant.) Here are a few questions tho.
The mice stay in my room w/ the snake. I don't think it makes him uncomfortable smelling it from his aquarium, but I smell it from my bed sometimes, and it's just not all that gravy to me.. Any help in that department?
Also, my heating.. I have a UTH, a 60 watt bult light, and a blacklight basking lamp. I don't even turn anything else but the basking lamp on, but I was just wondering, anyone know how much power these guys use? My utility bill is already out the roof, and I just got layed off from my job.. so I'm tryin to budget here.... The UTH just didn't do it for me, since it didn't make the air temp any different so I could'nt see if it made things better. Humidity stays between 50 and 60 percent (a few times it went over 60. Is this bad?)
Are there really any nutritional differences between mice and rats? I know I'll have to feed rats one day anyways, but for now, I wanna stick to mice since they're cheaper. But I don't wanna ruin a balanced diet for Adobo.
One thing this guy likes doing, when hes aroudn my neck, is go behind my ear(oooh, andit feels sexy.) or sniff around my cheek. has anyone ever gotten bitten in the facE? cuz it feels kinda scary sometimes.
I know I got a lot of questions.. BUt thanks for helpin' a new guy out

also for those who breed their own mouse. Do you guys get a lot of dead pinkies? I haven't looked inside their hidaway to check yet. and if I do find dead pinkies, do I just throw them away?

This will help w/the stink of the mice: I use baking soda mixed in their shavings and about 8 drops of imitation vanilla in their water bottle. I have 18 breeder boxes of mice set up and it knocks the stink waaay down.

I can't answer about how much electricity the above will use, however if you're only using the blacklight basking lamp (what watt?) I can't imagine it would be very much. I would not recommend you use all the above listed heat at one time in a 10 gallon tank. Too much heat will kill your snake super fast. Do you have a thermometer in the tank?

I've always read that rats are more nutritious than mice and the snakes I feed rats to seem to grow much faster than the ones that eat mice. However I've not seen any actual proof of this printed anywhere. I haven't looked for any proof either so it may be out there. Try Google or someone with more knowledge may post.

I wouldn't like to get bitten in the face therefore I don't allow any of my snakes around my face, especially my Amazon tree boas! I wouldn't let the snake around your face either.
If your snake is just a wee baby, be careful and don't leave him around your neck very long or at all. A small baby, around 1.5 feet can get overheated by having his whole body in contact w/your body heat (98.5°) for too long. I've seen this happen with a hatchling ball python. A kid carried his snake around his neck all morning and when his mom came home from work at noon the snake was limp. They brought it in to the pet shop I work at and we couldn't find anything wrong w/it. By the time they got to the shop the snake was already doing much better and had fully recovered about an hour later. Being around the child's neck for a few hours was the only thing they had done differently.
I hope this helps.

I forgot about the dead pinky question. I feed any dead rodents to my cats. They love them.
