Releasing Gators into the wild.
I have a three foot american alligator that I have recently put up for sale. I have had several responses to the ad but no sale. Yesterday, someone sent me a PM telling me that they are interested in purchasing my gator to release into a three acre pond on his property in North Carolina. I have no interest in selling my gator to someone that, assuming that he doesn't have a three acre enclosure encompassing this pond, is essentially going to release him into the wild. I have no intention of selling to this person, but I am curious to know what the NC state laws are pertaining to this situation. I live in Pennsylvania which many of you know, is currently very liberal when it comes to owning exotics, but we have had several cases each year of people releasing their gators and each time this happens we get closer to stricte r legislation against our right to work with these animals. Again, this will not affect my decision as my mind is already made up. There will be no sale but I would appreciate any input you folks might have on the laws pertaining to releasing gators onto private/public or state propery in NC. Thanks.
