I would if it wasn't so dadblasted far. I love the area over there... and I may have to take some time off and take you up on it. Some of the species I want to photograph are over there and not over here.

Come on! I plan on going with a few people when it warms up to look for just about anything but I really want to see the collared lizards again!

Kevin -

I've done quite a bit of field herping around Paragould, AR and other parts of NE AR. My family lives just over the state line in MO. I don't get over that way as much as I would like. But if the time of year is right I have found a TON of snakes just road cruising during the day!

Yeah, I was extremely excited to find her crossing the road mid afternoon in May a couple of years ago. I also found 2 or 3 eastern hog road casualties on the same 2-3 mile stretch of road.

I have also has some really good luck near Manila, AR where I have found a TON of black rats, water snakes (mainly greens I think), and a few other species.

What part of NE AR are you from?

You know, I remember reading an account a LONG LONG time ago about someone viewing a hognose snake actually surfing in the ocean. Not sure where exactly, but I believe it was perhaps Assateague Island. Well, I just did a quick search online to see if I could find that original article, which I did NOT, but found some amazing photos that pretty much support that account I read...

I don't know about you, but I just find the thought of hognose snakes enjoying a day splashing around in the ocean as just funny (in a very neat way) as all get out...
