Question on Mealworm Bedding....

I know there have been other threads on this, but I havent seen what I am about to ask mentioned before. I currently use oats in my mealworm bin and wanted to try something a little finer, so that I can sift through it, rather than picking one by one. So, I tried grinding the oats up, and it became really fine and kind of fluffy. Will this work?? If not, I would appreciate any other options of a fine substrate suitable for mealworms. Thanks!!

I use chick mash (layena). It can be bought at any feed store.

That should work fine, but I would try adding more than just oats to counter the fluffiness and also add more nutrition. As Marcia mentioned in the other thread, multi-grain cereal is excellent because it will add so much variety. I also throw in sesame seeds, flax seeds, fish flake food, and other miscellaneous grains to my gutloads.
