Boa personality

I must say I am a newer Boa owner, I have a Ball Python also...
I really like the personality of the Boa far better.. Although the Boa is a little less active, I like the fact he seems to have little fear of me at all, more curious actually, I can put my hand to the glass or in the cage and he shows no fear at all, my python is quite timid, head shy, likes to hide alot more, as of today my Boa rarely goes into his hide. Lays under his lamp, lays over his heat, lays by his water bowl, lays on his log. I am not sure how active Boas are supposed to be in the cage but mine seems quite happy to just watch the world go by and eat his weekly rat. If out he is very active, all muscle and exploration. He was quite a hisser when I first got him but with some handling that hasn't happened in awhile.. When he eats his F/T rat he seems to come up to it and flick at it, lay his head on it, for sometimes 30 minutes then starts eating.. Always ate like this for me... My python has to eat Live and pursue them.. Thats when he eats at all, the usual pyhton fasts drive me nuts..Anyhow just curious if the rest of you notice the same type of differences..

Your boa is LESS active than your ball python?
Surprised me to see that.

I find boas want to explore more where BP's like to chill when they are out. As far as them being more timid than BP's, I don't think so. BP's can be quite outgoing (spiders). Less prone to being headshy I would agree with though.

Heh - I have a ball python who is more active than my boas when out, as well. I think he's odd for a ball though - he's not timid at all. Most of my boas, when I have them out, will explore for a bit but then chill out.... the ball never stops moving though. The last time my ball python actually "balled" up was when he was a baby. He's not head-shy or timid though. Go figure, even though most of a species of snake may have a certain tendency, they each can have much different personalities. Some of the boas move around in their enclosures a lot, and some hang out curled up in the same spot most of the time. Just depends on the snake.
