Volta Region WC finally ate!

Just like the title says, I finally got my Volta, or Subsaharan to eat! She has eaten 5 ASFs now. I'm gonna try a regular rat today.

I believe she was collected last October. I got her in later November, and she laid eggs in later January. She hadn't eaten the whole time until just last week.

Her babies are growing like weeds, too, so that's cool.
Anyway, I'm just happy and relieved she finally is eating.

I know this is a very old thread....
But did you do anything special? Or just keep trying? I have a Volta that I got in January that ate once wile gavid. But refuses to eat since laying her eggs about a month ago. I have tried regular rats, gerbils, and now currently there is a live ASF in with her. I put the ASF in with her yesterday and it has lost fear of her and they are sleeping together??? Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated!

yeah, take that asf out of her tub!
That's NO BUENO. Never leave live rodents in a tub with your snake, unless its a pink. That is unless you want your snake to be rodent food.
Just continue to offer food. She will eventually eat something.

She will not just "eventually eat something".... I know of a few people that never could get theirs to eat, and they starved to death.

With mine, I tried rats, mice, gerbils, and ASFs. I don't know what finally got mine to eat, but she has been sporadic, too. She regularly goes on fasts, and then she'll eat like crazy. I've not gotten her to lay eggs again --even though she has locked MANY times with a male-- but she does eat fine.

Good luck with yours!
