Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Artificial Heat Sources
Need a little help with this subject. Since I am just getting back into the swing of things and attempting to reconstitute a BC breeding program, I would appreciate any recommendations, website url's, etc., for products suitable for temperature regulation in BC cages. Thanks in advance.

There was one product that I used in the early 80's that I was very satisfied with. It was a square flat dark brown plastic item that contained a heating element approximately 18"X18" in size and was available with a thermostat as a option. It was designed specifically for reptile cages and was waterproof. I forget the manufacturer's name and I am not sure if I would recognize it after this many years, but from my description someone should possibly have a idea if these are still available.

I use radient heat panels controled by a Helix which also controls the light phase. The Helix allows for day time temps and drops of night temps. I had some kane mats but tried the heat panels on my ball pythons and acually liked the way they worked better.

Thanks for the replies so far folks! Looks like inflation is out of control on those heat mats - I used to pay only $30-35 each retail for'em back in the 80's and that included shipping! And with the planned purchase of 2-4 dozen adult BCC, I will have to look for something a little cheaper.

Heat tape is the way to go, it is relatively inexpensive, easy to set up, and if put on a thermostat and timer controls energy costs as well.

We use flexwatt on the majority of our cages and racks... But also use some radiant heat panels (Pro Products and Helix), as well as a few manufactured heating pads from different companies.
Of all, I'd avoid the Zoo Med heat pads. I've seen way too many malfunction.
