Two Year Old Blue Tegu, Probable Male
(I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to any prior viewers. I believe there is a strong probability that this tegu is in fact male. I had thought that "she" was too young to sex (and probably was), and she was sold to me as a female. On closer inspection, "she" has two bumps anterior to her cloaca, and might be showing the first signs of developing some jowels.)
Also, added a new pic, in natural light so you can see the "blue" color. The flash from indoor photography sort of washes it out.
Great looking tegu,with amazing colors. Has a nice mint green to blue shine in the light. All digits and no ringing. She has a fully regrown tail, from about half way down. Must have been an injury when very young for it to have healed this nicely. Total lenght at 32 inches, SVL at 11 inches.
Has a skittish tendency. Mellows out once she gets held for a while. Agressive food response. Got her as a juvie from a shop where she was fed live mice for a buck. Now feeding well on F/T mice and rat pups, hissers and cooked turkey mixed with mellon and other fruit.
