For eggs that are stuck together, I don't try to separate. Also when I mix the vermeculite, I ensure it has just enough water so it clumps (usually a 4 part V to 1 part water ratio)...
After it's mixed I add a DRY layer over the top, for eggs that are clumped I make an indent & still do the dry layer. Then I cover the container. Covered containers are easier to keep the inside temp & high RH constant. Wet conditions are not good for the eggs, think "humid".
Get them situated & keep the fuss time to a minimum & you should be fine.
