Hello!
Either you have not registered on this site yet, or you are registered but have not logged in. In either case, you will not be able to use the full functionality of this site until you have registered, and then logged in after your registration has been approved.
Registration is FREE, so please register so you can participate instead of remaining a lurker....
Please note that the information requested during registration will be used to determine your legitimacy as a participant of this site. As such, any information you provide that is determined to be false, inaccurate, misleading, or highly suspicious will result in your registration being rejected. This is designed to try to discourage as much as possible those spammers and scammers that tend to plague sites of this nature, to the detriment of all the legitimate members trying to enjoy the features this site provides for them.
Of particular importance is the REQUIREMENT that you provide your REAL full name upon registering. Sorry, but this is not like other sites where anonymity is more the rule.
Also your TRUE location is important. If the location you enter in your profile field does not match the location of your registration IP address, then your registration will be rejected. As such, I strongly urge registrants to avoid using a VPN service to register, as they are often used by spammers and scammers, and as such will be blocked when discovered when auditing new registrations.
Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Shows & Events Since these are such a big part of our business, it is appropriate that we discuss them from a business perspective. |

As a vendor what would you like to see at a show?
Everyone has a lot of things that they would like to see at reptile shows. Sometimes there aren't enough outlets. Sometimes your crammed into a little tiny spot. Sometimes there isn't enough advertising.
What would make a perfect show for you as the vendor?

You wouldn't think it would be that hard to get people to complain LOL.
Tim, thanks for posting the useful link. I didn't get all the way back to 2009 when I was browsing the forum.

James,
Its not hard to get people to complain. Its hard to get them (the complainers) to do anything about what they are complainig about.
Primary example: The Hamburg show in PA. Both vendors and patrons alike have been whining and complaining about that show for several years. Aww...its to crowded, its to hot, theres no parking, its a mess, vendor areas are to small and cramped, and so on, so on and so on. Blah ! Blah.......
BUT.....6 times a year they all still show up.
Now, to answer your question. What makes a nice show?
1. A nice open venue with plenty of room for both vendors and patrons
2. A venue with ample parking for both vendors and patrons
3. Climate control is a defininte plus (nothing like walking thru a cramped venue in 100 degrees)
4. Plenty of electrical outlets
5. Tables that arent falling apart, and can actually hold the animals that are on them
6. A venue where patrons waiting in line can do so out of the elements of the weather
7. Plenty of lighting
8. Good advertising on the promoters part
9. Reasonable vendor spaces and admission costs
10. Area for easy access to loading and unloading
I'm sure there is more, but that is off the top of my head for both vendor and patron

Plentiful and clean bathrooms. More important than anything. Reason being that if you really need to go #2 ( or girls even #1 ) or have youngun's with you and the bathrooms are nasty, you're leaving, no matter how great everything else is.

There are alternatives to that show now...and, personally, I don't see myself going back to Hamburg as a vendor or a patron...unless there's something at Cabela's I need badly enough to make the drive. :P

Yeah, I agree with Serena and John on this one. Hamburg is a real ?@#hole and its only getting worse. I notice the crowds arent as big anymore. More and more buyers are moving on to those better venues, or alternatives as John puts it. There might just come a day when the vendors wake up, and want something better for themselves and their businesses as well.
John,
You are right about the alternatives, and it looks like more is to come with the Repti-con series moving into the area with future venues
