Hi Matt, I seem to have one or two a year that don't want to shed with the others. At first I worried about it, but they eat once or twice and then shed. Seems like the runts or the ones with the large yolks take longer. My runt from the first litter this year did the same thing. He is ok now. Talk to you later.

Thanks Dennis. This girl went into shed almost immediately after I posted this thread. She was a little behind the others, but has now shed a couple of times and hasn't missed a meal yet.

Good luck with your season!!

Thanks Katie! She bit me 8 times while trying to take these pics. Of course, at her size, the "bites" are still cute. I'm hoping that she'll grow out of it, but we'll see. None of her sibling have bitten me, or even acted like they would a single time. Go figure.

Anyway, here are a few shots that I managed. First shot is with some natural sunlight coming in the window. Other three are just under fluorescent. No flash on any. The drops of water on her are because I thought that a warm bath might relax her before her "photo shoot"...no such luck!

Awwww She looks great! I'm glad you decided not to put her in the freezer that day!!! I tend to err on the side of caution, and give the babies the benefit of the doubt. That has meant giving some babies away as pet only to a few select friends, or just keeping them here, but I totally understand when a situation doesn't allow for those options. That said, I too have had situations where babies have seemingly "skipped" their first sheds - waiting to shed till the 8-10 week mark for the first time. The first time it happened, I was really concerned, but now that it's happened a few times, I've just learned to have patience, and feed them with the rest when they're hungry, and they'll shed when they're ready

Now this little fiesty girl is nice!!! We definitely have to talk
