Gonzo's house of horrors
So, tonight was feeding night. Having had three days to acclimate to their new home I figured I would attempt to feed my two new Kenyans. It was Python feeding night so what the heck, lets get them on the same schedule, right?
Anyway, the python ate with his usual bravado. Then it came time to feed my new kenyans. I put two small hoppers in the tank and waited.... and waited... and waited. About the time I pretty much gave up I heard a familiar screech. To my horror I see that one of the hoppers has been partially dragged into the sand by a front leg. But that the snake was not wrapping him up. This went on for an eternity, poor mouse, until I finally pulled the mouse up by the tail... pulling the snake out of the sand with him. When I let go the snake sprung around the mouse and constricted and ate him.
Later that night the second one met a similar fate. Again I pulled the mouse and snake up. And again when I let go the snake quickly constricted and killed the mouse. Only this snake basically just killed him and left. Mouse was still there in the morning.
Is this normal behavior for Keynans? I just got them. Is this just a sign of a Kenyan that is not fully acclimated to its tank and dosnt want to some out of the sand?
