sexing cooks tree boas

do cooks tree boas have spurs that make tehm visualy sexable?

Yes, as far as i know all boas and pythons have spurs. With some species it may be harder to tell to tell the gender apart. Unless, the spurs are (very pronounced/or an obvious lack there of) on a sizeable animal i would not be 100% positive that the animal was indeed a male/female. If you want a garunteed sex determination i would have the animal probed.

thanks corey, i thought all of them had spurs to, i just wanted to be sure before i bought some. i think i will get them probed just incase though, but i had also heard that they have vary delicate sex organs, and probing could do preminat damage. o well, just what i heard, dont know if it is true or not. thanks for the info.

in the hands of someone who is experienced at probing and has the technique down, then it is not a dangerous endeavour. When probing does permanent damage is when someone forces the probe in too far, tearing the tissue. My motto is, if the probe stops, you're done. I don't try to go further, but I may try again later when the snake has calmed down(snakes sometimes "clench" which can give you an inaccurate probe).

However, that being said, I personally would not probe or pop baby amazons. I know they are not as delicate as baby chondros, but they are still tiny, and as with baby chondros, probing or popping them when very small can cause spinal injuries/deformities that may not become visible for some time. It is not necessarily that the reproductive organs are super delicate(though I am sure they aren't made of steel lol), I think it is more of their tails and spines being delicate.
