Water to incubation media ratio...

I'm doign media to water 1 to .8 by weigh and using perilite. I think Alberto said he used media to water 2 to 1.1 by weight. I tried that but the medai was completely soaked and I was afriad to try it. Maybe I misread the topic he posted in.

I always use 1 to 1 or even 1 to .8 (by weight) if you want to be on the safe side. Remember it is eaiser to add water than to take water out. Good luck.

I use an extremely scientific method that involves very precise measurement... First, I take a handfull of vermiculite and put it in the deli cup until it is almost halfway filled. Then I mist the vermicuite with water, using my finger to stir it up. I know the ratio is correct when I pinch the medium between my thumb and forefinger and it just starts to stick together. If it's too dry, it won't stick, and if it's too wet, it sticks to my fingers.

This is very true, and I think drier is much better than too wet!
