Cubans + New Tank + 24 Hours = ?

and the proud father circling the tank.....

I had taken this pair out of another tank in my office and put them into their own 40g....

24 hours later looks like I'll be expecting a couple hundred additional cubans in the near future

Nice Cubans...

Isn't it odd how changing tanks would prompt them to spawn? I always used to think that it would be stressful and postpone any of their breeding plans, but I've had a number of Texans, Jacks and Convicts that do exactly that when I've moved them.

I've never raised Cubans... are they pretty good about tending to their fry for a while?

Who knows, this will be the first time I'm not letting them get eaten by tankmates

The previous fry I kept I took out fairly early but they did seen to tend to them well for the short time they were with them.

I'll let you know lol

you can induce breeding by doing a massive water change also...about 60% usually does it, especially if the new water is around 2 degrees warmer.
they are great fish, but so-so as parents...you have to seperate the fry early on.
congrats!

Tetracanthus are great. The pair will get much better-looking as they get older and larger. One of the prettiest and most impressive new-world cichlids.
