Rusty,
Colombians are a good first choice.
They have a great temperament and don't get too large.

Yes Colombians are a good choice but if you want something that is a lot smaller, a Kenyan sand boa is also a good choice. They stay relatively small, around 30" or so and are fairly inexpensive. Here's a pic of some of my KSBs and one BCI.

well, you might as well add dumerils boa to the list of considerations. great temperaments and very workable adult size (6-7 ft)
