info. on respitory infections......

I am looking for info on getting rid of a respitory infection. My cage is at 88-89 on the hot side and 82-83 on the cool side. She has received two antibiotic shots. It has been going on for a week now. I don't know what I am doing wrong so that she would have this problem.

Thanks in advance,
Brett

I have more to add. I have read about every book I could get my hands on, but they seem to fall short in helping me. I believe the temps are optimal. I thought boas got resp. inf. from cool temps and uranate left in the tank. If someone could help I would appreciate it. I am looking for people with real world experience.

Was the snake seen by a vet? Antibiotics take longer than 2 doses to clear up a RI. Sometimes they don't respond to the first type of antibiotics and required a stronger type.

I have a big water dish in the middle of the cage. I don't know the exact humidity percentage. She always sheds in one piece.

I am using the antibiotics Gentamicin. It was recommended to me by a friend. Yes, it is ventilated well. I will keep on giving her shots. I was just more curious on how she could get a resp. inf. with the temp being pretty good.

Thanks for the help,
Brett

If it isn't showing improvement or gets worse I'd get it to the vet. Sometimes certain antibotics are better than others for the locations/types of infection.

I know this has already been stated, but i would just like to emphasize that high humidity can also be a cause of the R.I. Maybe get a humidity guage just for "yucks" and check it out. You may be surprised at how high it really is.
