My Healthy Beardy

Jazeira (the reason for my account's name here) is my bearded dragon.

I got her from someone who didn't want her anymore. In truth, she was not cared for properly at all. She was in a tank not even close to being twice her length and she was an adult. They never took her out because it was "hard to catch her." She's the easiest thing in the world to catch... And she was thin, her cage hadn't been cleaned out recently, and all they fed her were some crickets once a week and some mealworms.

Well, I'm glad she came into my care. I started feeding her vegetables and crickets every day as well as mealworms and waxworms. After some months, she's just now shed her skin for the first time in my care.

And when I first got her her skin was foggy looking and she had a stripe on her tail where the skin looked dry. I gave her several baths, but this dirty look she had wouldn't go away. Finally I bathed her with some olive oil. Walah! Beautiful skin every since. I guess that's what happens when a bearded dragon goes its whole life without a bath?

Well, now she has shed her skin and gained a good amount of weight. Her skin looks so much better, very fresh and not so tight looking.

She comes out nearly every day and runs around. She's a sweety. Anyway, I just wanted to share my story!

That is great you took her in. She deserves better care than what she was getting. It sounds lke she has really improved since you got her.
Have you posted any pics of her yet? I am happy to hear she is doing so well.

No, I haven't posted any pics yet. I will try to go through my files soon and find a "before" picture, then show one of her now. She's put on a good amount of weight. I'm so happy about how she looks now.
