I've never shipped rats...but I can say that the rats I've received have always been packed with dry ice (even in winter).

I've never shipped frozen rats, but I've been in and out of the shipping industry. I wouldn't ship anything that's supposed to stay frozen without dry ice. You just never know if it's going to end up sitting someplace warm for a while and start to thaw. As a customer, I'd be pretty upset if I got a box of rats that weren't frozen solid.

Another thing to consider is that, techincally, dry ice is considered "Haz Mat" and has a certification process as well as special labeling. Thats before you could ship it legally.

That doesn't appear to be the case, Jerry...unless more than 5.5 lbs of dry ice is sent via Air (no problem if sent ground, or if less than 5.5 lbs is sent air)

According to the above article, only international shipments are subject to IATA labeling requirements...but this one (dated winter 2008) seems to indicate that all AIR packages are. Ground shipments appear to be excluded.

Sorry about that, thanks for the catch. I had forgoten about the "Minimum Quantity" aspect. Well I'm glad I got set straight bofore the new year. I would have hated to start buring through my allowed mistakes on the first day of the year. OH Well, there is always tomorrow.
