Female chameleons

Ive been keeping herps most of my life, but a few weeks ago I was given my very first chameleon. Its a high colored veiled female of about 2.5 months. Ive been doing research on her, and im seeing a lot of conflicting info...My concern is about when she become mature....I wasnt really planning on breeding her, but i read a lot of people saying that unfertilized eggs are more likely to become egg bound. Also I saw some people saying their female never produced eggs until she was bred....My friend has a suitable male if its needed, but how do I know when he is needed...or how do I prevent her from laying eggs until we are ready?

She will make eggs without being with a male.

unfertilized eggs are more likely to become egg bound is a MYTH! If fact unfertilized eggs are smaller and easier for a chameleon to lay.

You can keep her clutch size down by reducing her basking temp and not over feeding.

Here is some good info you should read
