I'm getting a puppy!!!

All this talk lately about dogs has been getting me thinking it's time to add to the clan. On this Thursday I will be picking up the newest member of our family. She is an 8 week old APBT, black and white and currently goes by the name of Miss Piggy(we're thinking of calling her Q-tip). We have been talking about getting one for awhile and I need to start exercising again and can use an active partner to keep me motivated. My 16 yr old dog could use some harrasement in his life and my daughter needs a playmate that can keep up with her and put up with her antics. You can check her out on www.hogdogkennel.com and she will be the last pup on the right with the all white head and little black eyes when you go to the puppy section. I can't wait to see her!! I am now in the process of puppy proofing the house and making the list of everything I need to pick up for her. In the fall, she will be evaluated to see if she can be used for conformation or weight pull. If not we get to spay her. Wish me luck!!

Thanks Roz!! The breeder is actually a friend of mine and we have been discussing if this breed is the right dog for me. At first we didn't think so, but this puppy came by and he can see the two of us together. He knows I can handle pits and their personalities(we work together at the animal hospital). Hopefully we will jibe well and she can grow up to be a valuable and well loved family member. It's hard to say that she is replacing my older dog, but I know that eventually his time will come and I can't be without a dog. This was talked about for quite some time. Dean and I have actually been discussing this subject for some time and we feel the time is right now. Fortunately I already have a crate. Just need to pick up some toys and food. Can't wait

I had a real hard time when my shepherd passed. The lab I got didn't cut it for me, I love him but all in all he just wasn't my Baron. One of my daughters bonded with him more then I did so I gave him to her (she lives here so he is still part of my life too ). Those two just had the same kind of personality that fit perfectly together. The only thing he won't do with her is swim but we are working on that.
I finally settled on pugs. I adore them and it doesn't remind my of my shepherd though he will always stay in my memory and heart.

YAY!!! I love pits!! I have a little rescue Staffordshire Terrier .. he is dumb as a box of rocks, but also smart as can be.. ha ha ha
