Found Baby Squirrel [Need Advise]

Well, my friend found this baby squirrel under a tree. It's eyes are still closed, but it does have hair.

She found it under a tree at the fair grounds in Hamburg NY. She left it their for a while to see if the mother would get it, but nothing happened so she brought it home.

She was advised to give it warm cat milk, she has it in a 15X15 ish plastic enclosure, with straw has it's bedding. She also has some socks and towels in there as well. She put a sock in their, and filled it with rice and warmed it up, and it sleeps in that most of the time.

She gives it the milk and then uses a cotton ball and wipes it's stomach, and back end to stimulate bowel movement.

It seems to be doing alright, but I'm seeking advise...

We live in Western New York, I believe it's just a brown squirrel.

Sounds like your friend has everything under control. There is probably animal rehab people in your area to chat with or surrender it to. Be careful though, if it's a restricted species, they can confiscate it.

Yeah, she seems to be handling it well- but it's technically illegal if you're not a licensed rehabber. So I suggest you find one and give it to them...
They can give you lots of advice here, along with licensed rehabbers if you need them- there are many dedicated squirrel rehabbers on this site: http://www.thesquirrelboard.com
And if she plans on keeping it for longer, I advise trying to find some zoologic 33/40 formula to feed it, and try to give like 3:1/2:1 portions...
And...I don't know the exact things about the squirrel, so I suppose I can't help further, but the people at the squirrel board can help immensely if you provide details.
