International shipping to Japan

In 12-18 months I'm moving to Japan. I know I'll need CITES permits, although not sure which ones and FWS is slow to... well, just slow.

I found this link regarding shipping personal pets:
http://www.fws.gov/forms/3-200-46.pdf

But not sure if that is correct document. Even if it is authorized, I might want to get the CITES paperwork for shipping ball pythons for commercial reasons as I'll have about 10 of them.

Also most of the FedEx info is regarding domestic shipments, do they treat international the same?

I'm not all that worried about the cost, as these are all moving expenses that I can claim on taxes. I just need to make sure I can do this before I pick up the ball pythons I really want.

PS I searched before, but there isn't much info on international shipments.

You can't ship them through Fed-Ex - They need to go on an Airline, be inspected by USFW with the right documents, and land at an Airport where they can be inspected by the Wildlife Authority of the Import country.......

You won't get the CITIES you need though, unless you either bought from a Breeder with master CITIES, or can work some magic.......

You need to contact a Customs Broker who has experience with animal shipments before you do anything........

Any idea what airlines? I called Delta and the woman pretty much just read to me what is on the Delta website (no mention of reptiles to Japan).

Here is what FWS had to say:

If you will be out of the US for less than 3 years and will continue to maintain a US residence, you may want to apply for a pet passport - http://www.fws.gov/forms/3-200-64.pdf
There's no mention of breeders having a Master CITES, but it does say there must be documentation of the animal being bred/born in captivity. I should be able to provide them with paperwork for all my pets.

I'll update this thread as I learn more.
