That's correct an Inquiry of The Board of Inquiry.
I was encouraged to post a positive report regarding a recent purchase of a herpetological related product and the outstanding customer service I received.
However, after reading the BOI even a positive thread can quickly become a nonsensical, antagonistic debate between people.
I've come to realize the following rules with regards to internet forums:
Rule #1...Everyone is ALWAYS an expert.
Rule #2...Longevity and number of posts on a forum DOES NOT make one an expert.
Rule #3...Rule #1 ALWAYS overrides Rule #2.
When I see people who have absolutely no vested interest in the topic at hand reply with an
or "Pay up you thief, liar, cheat, steal..." or "Yeah...make it right Bob…" I can't help but wonder if it comes from the juvenile interpretation of ones self worth on this forum or if it's just your typical mob mentality at work.
The bickering, the fighting and name calling really have detracted from what the BOI was meant to provide. The need to get the last put down or the last insult in is amazing. To wade through all of the chest thumping garbage to get to the substance isn't worth the time and energy that is required anymore.
It's amazing that the "esteemed" members of this forum act like a bunch of kindergarteners fighting over a swing on the playground. To know they cover the entire spectrum of age is incredulous. People's interpretation of their own self importance on this forum transcends anything I've seen on the internet...and for what, the hobby of breeding, selling and keeping reptiles?
On the flip side of that, the praise that is showered on people for well stated posts serves what purpose? A private message would accomplish the same goal without cluttering up the thread with content that adds absolutely no value. Maybe the BOI has become a clique where particular members are expected stroke each others egos. I understand that EVERY internet forum has its core group of members with the majority of its membership not participating in most threads. However, what one sees on the BOI is nothing short of a strange love fest amongst some members, while most outsiders are treated as pariah.
Naming names is pointless...the megalomaniacs with the insatiable appetite for notoriety would never admit to such behavior and pointing it out to them would well...be pointless. I simply refer back to my rules of the internet.
