Sorry about all these hoops to jump through, but I am quite serious about blocking spammers and scammers at the gate on this site and am doing the very best that I can to that effect. Trust me, I would rather be doing more interesting things with my time, and wouldn't be making this effort if I didn't think it was worthwhile.

Derek Roberts / Sonoran Reptiles - inquiry (2006)
I know that there is a thread from a couple years ago on Derek / Sonoran Reptiles, but unless I'm missing something, nothing recent.
There is quite mixed response, so I wanted to ask if anyone had recent transactions with Derek? I have a list of references for him, but only 1 has returned calls. I have an excellent potential purchase lined up with him, but I'm not in a position to afford to lose the $ if things go bad.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any responses!

Derek...
I received a possible super salmon boa from him a couple months ago. The animal is one of my finest and the pick of the litter from the 05 litter he produced. So in regards to his animals... the one I received was top notch. The only thing I could say that I was not terribly impressed with was that for a yearling, it was very small and seemed like it was kept on a lower then usual maintenance diet. But the animal looked in good health and is feeding fine. He told me the mother was small so it was probably related to genetics. We had a few issues getting the animal shipped but things were resolved and turned out ok. Either way, I am happy with the animal. I was also a little nervous after I read the old threads. But as I know all to well, things are not always as they seem and gave Derek the benefit of the doubt. And like so many others Derek came through when it counted despite all the doubters. Good Luck!

Sonoran Reptiles
I have done business with Derek in the last year or so. I picked up three top notch boas all healthy and represented honestly. I was happy with the transaction. Hope that helps.

Thanks to everyone for posting. The even older threads... I did not go back that far, only scanned the last couple years. Thanks for the two posted experiences, but I also received contact off board with not very positive feedback.
I appreciate everyone's time and input, this is truly a wonderful service for those of us who entered the BP community in recent years and do not have the knowledge that many of you are sharing here! This may well have saved me not only money, but the cost of a bottle of Tylenol! Thanks again, your time is really appreciated.

Well I was quite surprised to get an email this morning from Derek... he has offered to ship the snake first and I can pay him when I receive it.
I have to say that an offer like that makes me think he has most of his problems straightened out and is working to establish a good reputation for himself.
I will let everyone knows how it goes!

Well, with an offer like that, you can't lose. Just make sure you pay him very quickly so you don't do to him, what you were worried about him doing to you. Obviously he wants to prove the doubters wrong here. Given a chance, i am sure he will come through for you.

I agree about paying immediately! We are planning for future breeding ourselves and I don't want my name out there as a nonpayer! 
He is shipping Weds for thursday and I'll have the money order at work Thursday to overnight to him for Friday delivery, already got that figured out. I agree if he trusts me enough to ship the snakes to me without any deposit, he more than deserves his money immediately!
I'll post next week and let you know how it went!
