anyone have experience using a wine cooler for brmation.

I'm thinking about getting a wine cooler to brumate my milks and mtn. kings. Is anyone else here using this system? any info would be appreciated. are they airtight or can i just open the door a bit each day to circulate air? do i need to humidify the interior or leave it dry? Thanks in advance for any and all responses.

I'm using a wine cooler this year. Mine is very large and was pretty expensive (built to hold 550 wine bottles). It has a digital thermostat built in but I'm using a seperate digital thermometer/hygrometer as a backup.
So far it seems to be holding very consistant temps and the humidity is around 65%.
I've heard of people using aquarium pumps and tubing to pump fresh air into the cooler but I just open the doors every day or two to let in fresh air.
This is my first year using this so I can't really fully recommend it yet but it's going well so far.
Good luck,
Chris

I started using a small wine refrigerator for brumating my milks last year. It's an Avanti (model WC400YBG). It worked out great. I did open it once or twice a day to fan some fresh air in, but there were a few times I missed a day or two, but had no problems. The temp stayed nice and steady (though there is about a 3-5 degree difference between the top and bottom shelves), and it held really good humidity, too. Plus it's virtually silent.

One thing to be aware of is condensation on the inside of your plastic tubs (if that's what you're using to hold the snakes). It can soak the bedding, so you might need to change it after awhile if it gets too damp.
