Is it okay to use a chicken egg incubator?

Can you use a chicken egg incubator to incubate leopard gecko eggs?

I'm sure someone will have a more intelligent answer than this, but I would think it is ok. The Hovabator(c) is what I used to use for king snakes and corn snakes, and it is a chicken egg incubator. Worked fine for me.

It would depend on which type of chicken egg incubator you are looking at. Poultry eggs have to be rotated during the incubation process, and some incubators are designed to do that automatically. This will kill reptile eggs, which must maintain their vertical (this side up) orientation.

So one without the racks for the chicken eggs will work?

As long as nothing is moving the eggs, it should work great. You can dial in the temp. you're looking for, right?

sure...why not!
i'm using one for the third year in a row now...no problems whatsoever...
The only problem can be the temperatures...
Chicken eggs need much higher temperatures...make sure you can get the temps low enough for leopard eggs!!!

I don't have one yet, but now I know what one to look for: no egg rack and a dial temp. Thanks!
