Ashley, certification would be a further cost (price of shipping) after the mite treatments, the shipping for reptile relief, and vet appointment costs when your male boa was seen stargazing. Now why on earth should I pay more money and spend more of my time for YOUR CONVENIENCE??? It's not like I'm going to be shipping snakes to anyone else.

I'm sorry if I don't sound generous with my money or time right now. I've been mite treating all week and trying to decide what I am going to do when these snakes test positive.

IBD is so scary to people, and rightly so, that even if I were to move houses the fact that this happened to me may scare people off. THANKS A BUNCH. So right now I'm looking at losing beloved snakes, affected equipment, and a reputation I had just begun to build.

So yeah, if I sound a little angry, it's because I AM. And I think $750 is more than a generous offer on my end for what I am losing.

Another thing I also want to point out that I myself have done before...

To save Elizabeth the few weeks trouble worth of hassle getting FedEx certified since this is an urgent matter and cannot wait... Ashley, since she is supposedly FedEx certified, can make a simple reverse address label through her FedEx account (online, even), print it out, and snail-mail it to Elizabeth. Then Eliz can slap it on the box and it's ready to go back to Ashley's. If Ashley doesn't have a printer, I doubt screen-shotting the return label to send to Elizabeth for her to print out would work.

That way, Elizabeth doesn't get into any kind of hassle because the labels are all directly connected with Ashley's FedEx account.

Becoming certified is not too difficult. I'm sure something else can be arranged though.

We also have a problem because unlike a sweater from walmart that I can take back if it doesn't fit or i don't like the color for a refund, these are living breathing animals. YOU don't seem to see the difference. And if you got the animal from PetSmart or PetCo they would allow you to keep the animal? How about any other pet store? I'm not sure where Walmart came into the picture...
Animals need proper care, there is plenty of evidence presented here that you will not provide that. Why would I knowingly send snakes into the environment where they GOT the mites and IBD in the first place?
If you would have mentioned mites back in Nov when you received them, instead of waiting 4 weeks to notice them, we could have arranged for an immediate refund. As none of our collection has mites, I would be wary to send it back as well but they will be treated for them so that they do not spread in our home.
And since you claim you are no longer selling, why do you want these snakes? To re-sell locally to some other innocent? Or to some idiot who doesn't care?
The game plan has already been posted.

Also, I cannot trust you to give me my refund once these snakes are back in your care, considering all the lies exposed in this thread.

So I am asking you to please consider my request of a refund for the value of these mite-infected snakes before I talk to a lawyer. Thanks.
Request acknowledged and accepted.
You first stated that you had no intentions of sending the Bolivians back... and then you expressed concerns that you had no way of shipping them to obtain the refund... Proceeded to Facebook Ashley stating that you will not be returning them... and now are worried about not getting the money once they are shipped. It really seems as if you do not plan on sending them regardless of what we agree upon so the terms in my email is the only way to ensure that both parties stick to what they say.

Oh, and another thing, if you go the reverse return address label route through your own account, Ashley... print out more than one copy to send to Elizabeth for good measure.

Sounds reasonable.

That would be fine with me,if there was some guarantee that these animals were to not be resold until her collection is clear, AND EVERY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT exposed is verifiably replaced, and after testing snakes, you've waited a year then RE-TESTED. That, even though I know you would lie and sell under the table, would at least take some guilt away from sending these innocent animals back to your irresponsible establishment where NO ANIMAL belongs. And if I see these animals up for sale before you are completely clear and all animals have had biposies a year from now, God help me, I will never forgive you.

Ryan, if you actually read through the ENTIRE thread...

Elizabeth looked carefully through the bags the snakes came in, and found lots of little dead mites in them... which is proof that the snakes sent to her CAME with MITES.

What is so difficult about sending a full refund to Elizabeth when YOU sent her mite-infested, potential IBD carrying animals?

As has been stated in this thread before also... mites are tiny, especially mite instars, and like to burrow under snake scales, hidden and well-tucked away.

I do have a question though... Obviously this doesn't affect the refund or anything... But I'm curious... Why were all the snakes not pre-treated when they arrived anyway? Every animal I've EVER gotten has been pre-treated for mites when it came into the house... Doesn't matter if it was from a small breeder, big, well known breeder, whatever... They have ALL been pre-treated...

So the mites may not have been noticed until they had already spread out to the rest of her collection and exploded in numbers. On dark or neutral colored animals, especially ones with black coloration and patterns of any kind, mites would be unnoticed for awhile. Mites can also live and hide away in carpet, and travel until they find their next host.
